I thought Hong Kong people is notorious enough in that aspect, but their buildings are worse!

HSBC building: this is unbelievable! who's the rude one here? you just took a shit on my head!

Eagle: let me explain it from the start, then u'll understand. As everyone in Hong Kong is picky about everything--i, have to pick the best building in town to rest on. With an eagle's eyesight i have scruntinised all buildings, compared their architectual style, height, building date, material, location, occupants....i needed only 3 s then i came to my conclusion. i've chosen you! aren't u happy to hear that? (continued speaking without waiting for an answer) Everything about you, suit me perfectly. It is so comfortable here. When I feel confortable I took a shit. Ain't you glad that me, such a majestic creature, rest on your head? everything about me is majestic, even my shit. u can keep it. it's a gift.

HSBC building: don't make me laugh! you are so ordinary, there is nothing great about you! I hate when someone is so full of himself. filthy animal. who wants you and your shit? why don't you go back to your bloody forest? that's where you belong!

Eagle: who wants to stay where one belongs? no one does. home sucks. cities are different. they are exciting. they offer hope--you will turn into something you are not. though it never actually happens, hope, is what matters. i love city. i like to be seen. this is my nature--and the city, is the best place to get attention. Appearance, it is the only thing that counts. depth and substance are so out. who can see me if i stay in the forest? my beautiful feather, my elegant figure. nothing can compare to the sensation when all eyes are on me. in fact, i feel uneasy when the fog is on, no one can see anything. i'd have no appetite and feel restless constantly. don't u like being look at?

HSBC building: yes i do. but i m different. i m a commercial skyscraper. i m meant to be looked at, to make an grand impression with my exceptional height, to dazzle them with my light. this is my purpose. this is the meaning of my existence. u, however, have no purpose. i don't see any reason you should exist. i wish you would vanish from this world. if i have that power, i will certainly do so.

Eagle: (laughing) I am glad you don't, and you never will. You are nothing but a bulky pile of concrete, metal and glass. You can't even touch a feather of mine. You have a good look, and that's it. The people inside you, some of them at least, are moving money around at an amount that their brain cannot comprehend. They think their power is without limit. But it is not true for them, neither is it true for you. You cannot do anything to me. I can come whenever I like, take a shit whenever I want. (HSBC building shakes and groans indignantly.) Are you afraid? And your ridiculous little speech about meaning & purpose and all that crap. Don't make me laugh. Human beings, created you to serve their purpose. After they used you they will destroy you---ungrateful things they are. What happened to the previous HSBC building at this spot? Without a trace now. We living things have no purpose. Life creates itself. We live for the sake of living, and nothing more. Who need a purpose? Only slaves like you. I am free. You aren't.

HSBC building: Idiot! You don't know shit! You have no idea how powerful I am! You will regret what you said, very soon.

Music. Enter Angel from above with golden light.

HSBC building: What the hell is that? I have enough fleas on my head today. I should definitely try that new medical shampoo. If it doesn't work, I shall switch to industial pesticide.

Angel landed on the HSBC building. Flapping her wings gracefully

Eagle (approaching curiously): Hi there. I like your wings. They look so white and soft. (thinking aloud) I doubt if she can fly more than 100ft with those fragile things.

Angel (politely): I like yours too. They look so strong. (thinking aloud) they look so dirty...animal. gosh I wil never touch'em.

Eagle: You look kind of...funny. Which kind of bird are you, may I ask?

Angel: I am not a bird. I am an ANGEL. (flashing her long blond hair) I am here to carry out a mission. What my mission involves is highly confidential. If anyone, happens to hear something one's not suppose to, he will be in immediate and personal danger.

Eagle: You speak like you are an offical government spoke person, while your speech is full of elegant words but the sole purpose is to confuse the audiences. Can you speak plainly, what will happen if someone know something he shouldn't?

Angel: (holding a lightening bolt. Thunder strikes. Made a grimace) I will kill him.

Eagle: (yawning, unimpressed) If you won't tell anyone what's your mission, what's the point of mentioning that you have a mission at all?

Angel: To let people know I am deadly important. If not they will think I am no different from all those stupid Mainland Chinese tourists in town for a shopping spree. What i will do for my mission is highly confidential. But the long term goal, I can tell you and don't have to kill you. Do you want to hear it?

Eagle: why not. I hope it's interesting.

Angel: (proudly) To make this world a better place.

Eagle: My god, this is the most frequently used, or abused, excuse for...almost anything. One can do anything with this, you may call it excuse or belief or reason. In fact, people start most of the war with this. I would say, people who want to make the world better are the most dangerous people ever.

Angel: But I told you I am dangerous. That was my point.

Eagle: I can never understand you people. This world is not good enough for you?

Angel: You don't understand human nature do you? One may never satisfied. Never ever.

HSBC building: (interrupting angrily) I am not human but I am not satisfied either! Who permits you to land here?

Angel: (innocently) someone's speaking?

Eagle: (yawn) Here he goes again.

HSBC building: You just landed on my head! I've never said you can! I should turn my rooftop into a gigantic highly concentrated sulpheric acid pool. I will do it. This is a private space! No one can enter without permission!

Angel: Private space? Oh I can never understand all these human concepts after so many years. I go wherever necessary for my mission. Normal human eyes can't see me. There were several times a few people saw me accidentally and the spots immediately became the hottest tourists attraction. Ain't you glad to see me? And you're not human I suppose? Why do you care so much, private or public space all that crap?

Eagle: He is not human. He is a slave of them—which is much worse. He guards all those stupid human concepts like treasure. Like a mad dog chained at the door, he will bark at any passerby. He despises what his masters do, only tripling the effort. He does not have his own mind. Private properties— human beings divided space—any space they can get hold of, which is, the whole world. This is mine and that is yours and those're his 'n hers. I can't go into your space if you don't want, and you shouldn't enter mine if I say so. Private property is what makes human human and it is also their biggest tragedy. Most of the time they don't think about it. It's a habit. Entering other people's property will cause a scene. Our HSBC building here, would love to have the top of his head bare and bald instead of having us magnificent creatures around!

HSBC building: You calling me a slave! Look at yourself before you open your mouth! You are nothing but the slave of your instincts! You eat when you're hungry, mate when it's the season, shit when it's time. What's more do you do? You are not capable of breaking free from your instincts ever. Your whole life is programmed, to every single detail, before you were born. Insignificant animal! You think you are strong and you can fly high. But your strength is nothing comparing to mine. Don't forget you're made of flesh and blood! I can kill you in no time dropping a small concrete slap on your head!

And you! (to the Angel) If you want to make this world a better place, go get a job in Red Cross or something like that! Why are you here?

Angel: My approach is quite different than those of Red Cross. You are the HSBC building, right?

HSBC building: (flashing his sign) Unless you are blind, there is nothing more obvious than that. One of the biggest and the most successful banking co-operation in the world.

Eagle: That means, he produces nothing and he sits around all day messing with numbers electronically. Strange that people who produce nothing generate much more wealth than people who actually produce something—this is the modern way. The super rich, suck up the wealth of the whole world and left the poor starve. Or they give out a teeny tiny bits of money to charitable causes, then they think they are so generous. Well, if one is truely generous, one cannot be truely rich. Basically they are all fucking stingy bastard with no conscious who will do whatever it takes to get what they want. Our HSBC building here is such a fool—

Eagle cannot finish the sentence. The tile which he is standing on suddenly breaks & falls into the level below. Eagle raises his wings in time and flys over to the steel fence nearby

Eagle: (triumphantly) You think I will fall for that? Not so easy! Naive little—

The steel fence buzzes. A strong electrical current is running through. This time the Eagle does not escape in time. He is caught in it and plunge into a violent tremble. He looks disbelieved. A moment later the current stops. Eagle is stiff, falls to the floor. Pang. His eyes stay opened. The Angel observes coldly. She moves out of the way when the body falls.

HSBC building: (relieved) Finally!

I can't believe I've been listening to all his bullshit for a whole day. fucking cunts. Why the hell should he come to me, if I am so full of sin and all that crap? The truth is I am a godamn gorgeous building, tall and all, and he likes to show off himself here. If he really detests me, he shouldn't use me —but he is too vain. He just can't do what he preaches can't he? What a hypocrite—just like everyone else in the world. He thought I can't touch him! Me! The mighty HSBC building! I have so many tricks that his little birdy brain can't even imagine. At the end, I ALWAYS get what I want. How do I get to be one of the worldwide biggest banking co-operation? He's going to stink. I need to send someone to clean up this mess. (to Angel) You should leave now! You haven't got a big mouth like that damn thing. I would let you live. But if you dare to stay any longer, I will strike you down too!

Angel: I still have things to do. I can't go yet. Would you mind me going in? It will only take a minute. Well, actually I know you will mind. But I have to do what I have to do. You can't stop me.

HSBC building: No you are not coming in!

The sound of door slaming consequetively. Angel lets out a shrill laugh. The whole stage goes dark for a second. Lights on again. The Angel is no longer on the rooftop. HSBC building is shaking & blinking its neon lights. Suddenly one room at the top floor lit up. Angel is sitting in front of several computer screen typing something. Then the room goes dark again. Angel exits, flying through the rooftop door.

Angel: (in a hurry) It's done. Goodbye!

She spreads her wings and about to fly away. A dom shape electrical net bounces her back. She tries again. But she burns the tips of her wings this time. they are smoking slightly.

Angel: (angrily) How dare you! My father is the almighty god! Let me go, now!

HSBC building: (mockingly) My father is the king of high finance and he fucks your father like his bitch. I thought you are always so elegant and calm? Not anymore? I've changed my mind. Now I sincerely wish you can stay. It won't be long. It should be no more than a minute—if you behave yourself. Tell me, what have you done? I've never done anything wrong to you. In fact, I've never met you before this morning. Don't you hold back. Tell me everthing, at once.

Angel (holding her injured wongs, resumes her composure): Well, you can't do anything about it now. it's already too late. I planted a bug in your system. It will spread from system to system and eat any number it can find. It is a simple bug, a bit old-fashion. Yet the most simple thing is often the most efficient. No firewall can stop it. It will eat the firewall too. Not only your bank will be effected, but also anything conneted to a network, which is, pretty much EVERYTHING. I will say, the whole human economy will collapse in no time. It will be chaos never known of. That will be so much fun to watch! I am excited.

HSBC building: (panic, but trying not to let his voice shake. on the electronic display board blinking in red bold letters: damage control! damage control!) Why the fuck would you want to do something like this? What can you get?

Angel: To change the way how the world economy is run, obviously. My approach is quite radical. but i believe any approach which is not radica has no effect. Everything is so light and correct and mild in this time. I hate time. The world needs change. Dramatically. You see how the economy is run—by encouraging endless consumption. Greed and forever discontend. In the mean whole all natural resources are going to be depleted, environment totally fucked up, the poor poorer and the rich richer than ever. They need the plate swipe clean and start everything from scratch again. The change may be painful, any change is. But it is only for now. In the long run the human beings will have better lives. at the end they will thank me. As for you, I am sorry that I have to destroy you. I have nothing against you personally. You just stand in the way. I don't know if this will make you feel better, not only you, but most of your peers big co-operations will be destroyed as well. The higher you fly, the worse you fall. Do you still think there is hope? Don't waste your time trying to locate the bug. It is spreading. Surely you can feel it by now?

On the electronic display borad, the stork market index for different parts of the world are all going down until the numbers just disappeared . Inside the HSBC building, people running around franactically. Telephones keep ringing and everyone is yelling at each other. someone is pulling his hair while another jumps out of the building screaming and disappears into a hole in the stage floor.

HSBC building: holy shit. You must be from the Marxists school in hell. they never learn from their mistakes. Can 't you understand? Life is not a fairy tale. The big revolution won't make everyone live happily ever after. what u've done, brings nothing but misery and suffering. Now all hell breaks lose.

Angel: Hell for you. I want to create heaven. Everyone will be truely equal. It will work. I know it. too bad you won't live til that day to see it. you are finished. For me there's still a lot more to do. (spreads her wings and rising slowly)

HSBC building: (quietly) not so soon.

thunder strikes. The dom shape electrical net appears again. The angel is caught in the middle. this time she doesn't get a chance

Angel: (screams in agony) no!

she collapses on the rooftop floor

HSBC building: If I have to go down, as long as I still haven't had my last breath, I will bring you with me. I hope it hurts a lot.

Angel: (feeblely): You dare striking me down! No one on earth dare to kill an angel. there will be all sorts of horrible thing that u can't even imagine waiting for you in hell! you will be tortured eternally!

HSBC bulding: You are not as invinceble as you thought? That is usually how pompous people meet their inevitable doom. As for me, I will come back. I may be down for now, but I won't die. Yes, I will come back. I am resilliant. though it may not be tomorrow, or next week, or next month. I swear, I will get myself together. I will come back one day. the world will be back to normal. I will be more successful than ever. yes. the biggest bank in the world. no. the biggest in the universe. nothing is impossible. as long as you are ambitious...

his voice fades. the angel lies still along side the eagle and does not answer. she's dead. the index on the electronic display board become unintelligeble symbal. soon all lights of the HSBC building dim out.

The End

力撐中大學生報/ strongly support chinese university student newspaper

ok, i know this has been discussed 2 billions times. but, i've got to say what i've got to say:

1. in my opinion, there's NOTHING pornographic/ indecent about the content of accused newspaper.

2. here in barcelona is a bit more chilly than before, but not as cold as i expect (much warmer than sicily actually!)

it's low season in the hostel and recently when i get bored i just ask some random ppl out to have a drink (no, there's nothing romantic) so, a couple days before i grab this israeli guy & we went to have a drink. i remember someone told me generally speaking israeli ppl are very opinonated--they usually have strong opinon about politics (becoz of their political situation. obviously), they 're either on this side or the other, very few ppl in between. & of coz i have very strong political opinion too (please, i was a political philosophy student) well, u can imagined what happened it's like mars crashing on earth. i kind of knew it would end bad even at the start, but, anyway.

so, this israeli guy, Yair, we were just talking about random stuff in life, blah blah blah while looking for a nice bar. he's 25 but haven't done university so i asked him what he was doing before---in the military service. i nearly forget military service is compulsary in israel.

me: where were u at the military service?
Yair: at the front line
me:... (stop walking) u didn't kill anyone did u?
Yair: no i didn't, believe me
me: u didn't shot any 10 years old palestinian kid in the head? or, beat up someone?
Yair: no, there was nothing when i was in military
of coz if he admit beating up some palestinian guy at check point i'd leave him & go home immediately. but on the other hand no one would admit that even if he did it. surely it will turn away all his newly met friends. so, god knows what happened.

we found a bar. we were just talking about music, travelling...fun fun fun. of coz after a while i kind of knew his political view is on one side & mine on the other (yes, i knew disaster was waiting to happen) we just keep saying-no, we're not going to talk about politics, just stick to salsa or indian beaches. but, like, everying eventually suck into a tornado, we cannot avoid the unavoidable.

ok, i know it was me who lit the bomb at last (i didn't mean it!)

me: how to say hello in hebrew?
Yair: shalon
me: shalon?? that just sounds like ariel sharon!
Yair: (very suprise) u know who's ariel sharon?
me: of coz, he's very famous, or notorious. he's a bastard. he killed many ppl isn't it? (it's very natural for me to say that! i didn't even think! but for mr. Yair it was like a knife stabbing right through his head of coz)
Yair: (he was in shock) i didn't expect u to know that much
--then i just keep talking what i knew for a bit, not that much actually. i admit i m far from a middle-east politics expert.
Yair: (after 2 minutes he finally awake from his shock & exploded) how can u say that??!! for me ariel sharon is one of the most important people in history!
me: ...okok, i know we're going to kill each other
Yair: no, sweety, i m not going to kill you, u doensn't worth me killing.

so, basically he thought i m some kind of rubbish or cockroaches that worth even less than someone he'd kill (!!! ok, that's the first time in my life that someone told me that!) i didn't bother to argue with him coz i know it would be pointless. but of coz at that moment i was pretty pissed myself. please, if he can think about me that way i can just say the exact same thing about him too. & ariel sharon killed a lot of people, it's something so undeniable that even the crapy tv news in hk would mentioned that: he allegedly (coz he never got convicted) commited war crime back in the 70's & 80's & like many powerful ppl he got away from trial. now he's in a vegetable state lying in hospital probably will never wake up. & mr. yair, who claimed he travel all around the world (6 months in japan, 3 months in india ...blah blah blah) & i m the first person he met that think ariel sharon is a bastard??? i m sure there're many ppl much more radical than me. if he never met anyone like that it's either: 1. all the ppl he met are totally indifferent (or ignorant) 2. his conversation with the ppl he met stays in superficial level & never about anything deeper.

---there're more to come: that at the end mr. yair accused me of being a racist & comparing me to nazi killing jewish ppl (ok, this is getting really ridiculous, i hope didn't really mean that coz it's REALLY naive) oh please u're talking to a hong kong people, do u know how many south east asians were killed by the japanese during the 2nd world war? u think jewish ppl is the only victim on earth? plus, your people were slaughtered before doesn't give u the right to slaughter other people now! (now, thinking about everything it really smells like propaganda: i remember chinese history books potraiting 'evil' japanese invaded china & we chinese are the poor victum blah blah blah--& then spread some anti-foreigners messages. i can imagine jewish history book can do exactly the same: oh we are the victum, we're so innocent & what we're doing now is just for self-defence)

i was talking to my friend later & she thinks it's better not to talk about politics (just to avoid above situation!). but i think it's actually better to talk about it, to get offended then to keep our mouth shut & mr. Yair is in his own world that ariel sharon is a hero & i m in my own world that ariel sharon is a bastard. If things go on like this probably we're going to ACTUALLY kill each other one day, which will be worse. we live in the same world & at the end everyone's doing what he thinks is right. it's better to talk about it & be offended now than stay in silence pretending everying's fine (which is not!!!)

after i calm down i was actually thinking mr. yair (or anyone like him) can actually tell me why they think ariel sharon is a hero. they must have their reason & i would like to know how can they explain the fact that he killed many ppl. but probably my. Yair can't have a calm conversation about this topic (ever). the world keeps turning & ppl are dying everyday & i do know there're things one can't change alone, or things that not gonna change in a short time, but

despite everything i still belive in peace, & living with dignity

cheers, Rita

rainy carnival in barcelona-- propaganda save the world?

well well well, i haven't renew my blog for a year, now it finally comes back to life!!

i`ve been away from hong kong for a year. ( of coz my heart is awys there...ok i admit i m quite lazy in keeping up with the news) for now i live in barcelona, saving up some money to continue my trip. as i m not really a 'normal' person, when everyone stay at home i go clubbing & when everyone go out i decide to go to an internet cafe & recover my democracy blog.

today is carnival but it's raining non-stop. who wants to go out anyway?

1. political communication
---i want to introduce 1 of my best friend here in barcelona- Maribel (from bolivia), we work together & she graduated political communication--what the hell is that?? we in hong kong we don't have a major like that in any university (hopefully!!!!) she explained to me briefly it's about how to communicate with the public (which i didn't really got it)

after some time i met a (boy)friend of my flatmate who used to teach political communication partime in santiago, chile.
me: so what is political communication?
Frank: basically it's about how to win an election
me: ??? it totally sounds like propaganda to me!!!

as u can guess i m VERY sceptical about politicians. having a univerity degree about how to win an election campaign (....lies, lies, & more lies?).....is not really my cup of tea

2. work?
1 night i had a big argument with an isreali guy about politics. after that maribel told me she thinks it's better not to talk about politics coz there can't be a conclusion & people just offend each other. i know this is partly true---i'll post that story later. me & maribel almost never talked about politics before but .....what it has to come has to come--

we were having a drink with an irish guy who lives in london, & i forgot how we start the topic...oh yes, we saw a cute blonde homeless guy wondering on the street asking people for money. then we were kidding that we can bring him home & bath him.

the guy: in london there's a lot of homeless people
me: really?
the guy: yeah, more than barcelona
me: yeah, i heard in london is quite easy to squat?
the guy: not anymore
me: ? i heard that there're a lot of abandoned building, & many charities giving food.
maribel: (totally disaproved, shaking her head) squating is against my religion
me & the guy: ??
maribel: you MUST pay
(now i m the one who shake my head & disaproved)
the guy: what about people who can't pay?
maribel: you MUST pay for the place you stay, & you MUST work for that
the guy: what 'bout ppl who can't work? ppl who're mentally disabled...etc
maribel: there must be SOMETHING, even if it is small thing that you can do. if you can't work at all, you're rubbish & you must die
(now i started to feel scared...)
me: u sounds like magaret thatcher!!
maribel: no i m not!

2. future president
we went into a bar, the conversation continued of coz--
me: is there a prime minister in bolivia?
maribel: no, the head of government is the president
me: what position u want to be? which department u want?
(she didn't answer straght away, after a moment she admit she wants to be the president, then she was explaining the situation in bolivia)
the guy: there is a lot of corruption in bolivia, right?
maribel: yes, there is A LOT of corruption. people just sell the national resources (like, oil) overseas very cheaply. those people are corrupted, they are beasts & they must die for that(me: .....) we need a strong government. the people in country side are very ignorant. the government need to be very strong, through propaganda, radio & everything, (.....oh my god, brainwash!!!) clear the corruption & change the people
me (getting even MORE scared) & the guy: what about freedon of speech??? & democracy?
maribel: i don't believe in democracy. there are many people who are so ignorant they cannot comment about the lives of others
me: you totally sound like the communists!!!! (it's true, the chinese communists would say exactly the same thing)
the guy: love & peace

then maribel & the guy started an argument about ireland vs england, we were drinking so the stuff we said is not really coherent:

maribel: what are u speaking? u speak english becoz english ppl were strong & they took over you
the guy: no it's not true! english ppl didn't take over ireland! we stopped them!
maribel: but u are speaking english. the english were strong. the strong has the right to take over the weak
the guy (start bullshiting): we are not weak! now i m living in london, i feel london is mine
maribel: just like united states is the strongest nation of the world, and it controls all latin america
me: no it's not the strongest, it's going down (asia is rising, USA can go to hell)
maribel: yes it is

.....obviously this kind of conversation can never has a conclusion (no agreement is possible, probably worse than WTO meeting)

thoughts after december

2003 half million march marked a significant turning point for Hong Kong civil right movement. the 25 thousands march last month was a significant turning point for me. that is, besides marching to the finish point & (Which I only success in luring one, bad luck)

I don't usually buy local tabloid magazine. But, walking by newstands, I found that the recent cover of local tabloid magazine is look even dirtier than real dirty magazine!! the only different is the tabloid one is not showing nipples & pussies, & you can see everything other that. The tabloid one also goes with blown-up celebrities scandles/news, probably it's more exciting the dirty one.

How far can they go?

Demonstration Ahead! 4 Dec/ WTO

It's quite obvious that I am very lazy in writing Blog. Well, I don't know how many people will read this. (what's the point of writing if no one reads?) but on the other hand, if I write nothing new I am damn sure no one will read my blog.

Honestly I am also very lazy in keeping up with the news. It's partly because news in mainstream media are so full of politicians/ business propaganda crap. Today I saw that our 'always-so-smart' HK government have some big grand construction project (again!) building a new government headquater in the Tamar site, which, involve some reclamation project (again!) on ever-shrinking Victoria Harbour. I definitely think the Harbour Protection Unit should employ some radical method to protest, such as, 'human chain' on the reclamation site. I am happy to be part of it.

Our slicky (hair?) Chief Executive recently put in quite a lot of effort to polish his policy reform proposal. I am quite tired of his bullshit & don't bother to point out bits by bits that there's no real reform in his proposal. I am very happy that there'll be a demontration on 4 Dec. Of coz there would be a bigger demonstration on WTO later.

Once I told some of my friends that I am going to the WTO demonstration. They don't quite understand why & say, isn't that we already have free trade around the world? I know international trade is not as 'free' as they think, but it would take long time to explain and probably they would not be convinced anyway. Politics is such a weird thing. Most people think it is none of their concern. For those who do care about it, they are so passionate about it that they often don't let others hold a different view point.

Recently discovered: www.prhk.org People's Radio Hong Kong
Voice of the people, No commercial, No government propaganda. Support free speech!

Oxfam has good publication about WTO: www.oxfam.org.hk
I was reading an oxfam survey that Hong Kong public knows little about WTO. The report says it's government's responsibilities to educate the public & the government is not doing its job. My view is the opposite. It's natural that HK government fail to inform the public about WTO. The current HK government, (despite repeat denial) openly representing the interest of big business group, they only 'educate' the public with what the government want them to believe--WTO=free trade, we can buy more cheap things (......) Does the HK government want the public to know that WTO is a club for the rich & crushing the poor by imposing unfair trade rules? Hell no! It's better if the public remains as ignorant as it can be & stay away from the protest. A bad government wants its people to be stupid.

This is the problem with a lot of government in the world.

Is there any of you going to the 4 Dec or later WTO demonstration? Let me know.

do you want to talk about politics?

well, i forgot to mention i made this blog coz i want to meet people who like to talk about politics. Yet Hong Kong citizens are deprived of this. ordinary citizens have no voice in deciding their own future.
Hong Kong cannot go on like this any longer. there need to be change. who have the power to change Hong Kong? not Beijing central government, but ordinary people like you and I.
so, let's talk about politics.

*pic-Long Hair is my hero: though we may have different viewpoint, i admire him as a persistant, daring, no-nonsense political activist

1st July March--the third year 七一遊行

another year, another march. Put Mr. Tung on the post is probably the greatest mistake PRC has committed so far, and they certainly learn from it. Dull face Mr. Tung is not even a politician. He has no idea how to run a city as complex as Hong Kong--no wonder he was so unpopular.
Hong Kong sufferred under Tung Chee-wah as he is stupid. But the next in line is even more dangerous--Donald 'bow tie' Tsang, the slick civil servant who spend decades serving the colonial government.

to be continued

sex sells I

recently I'm wondering how to publizise my site. it is quite difficult I guess. basically I want to write about politics, but not everyone is interested in it.

So I'm wondering, what is most effective in attracting attentions? sex. nothing sells better. I regret that I didn't put 'fuck' on my URL. if it is 'fuckpolitics.blogspot.com' the no. of my viewers would definitely triple. (well I can still get a new link, just don't bother)

Hong Kong tabloid magazines know all about sex sells. so barely-dressed fame-hungry actress/potential high class hookers get most of the front pages. the rest goes to celebrity scandals. when these two forces combine (nudity+celeb scandals), u can have a sold out issue.

There's a chinese saying: hanging goat head selling dog meat which is exactly what I'm trying to do. But, what the fuck. if advertiser can use sex to sell electronic appliance, food, drinks, cloths, cosmetic, magazines and everything else, why can't I use it to sell political ideas??

then I wonder what should I put on my web page in order to attract more reader. naked picture? personal sex story? how do I like it in bed?(if u for a moment sincerely believe it's possible that I'll put my personal sex info online u're so wrong. the most u can get is a japanese AV girl pic and some make up shit about 'my' sex life)

to be continued~

Beijing vs. Taiwan? On international relation.

I've just written an undergraduate thesis on politics: http://members.fortunecity.com/bikinia/RousseauHK.htm

I have been wondering if my thesis sounds too naive, especially the part analysing current politics. But on the other hand I don’t worry too much: when I turn on TV or read newspaper, most of the analysis there is nothing but crap. If they can say all these craps on TV I guess my naive writing would not be worse than that. Each time I see some Mainland Chinese officials talking I want to smash their faces into pieces. Recently there is much talking about Beijing-Taiwan relation (also Tokyo). This makes me think about what is really going on.

I can’t help but feeling what we, ordinary people can know about so-called international relation is only the tip of iceberg. There is so much more going on behind closed door. When we heard in the news: ‘The relationship between Taiwan and Beijing is tense.’ Beijing passes the law of unifying the country and Taiwan raises strong objection blah blah blah……It sounds like it is on the brink of war. But is it really the case? After a while Beijing suddenly allows the head of Kuomintang to visit Mainland, with a friendly-friendly face and gives such a warm welcome (plus pandas). It is such a stark contradiction to Beijing’s previous strong stance and intimidation. It reminds me of the hard cop soft cop tactics: first the hard cop scares the suspect to death, and then the soft cop consoles him and gets him to spill his gut. But in this case Beijing takes both of the roles. It never really wants to attack Taiwan. Yet the intimidation is needed to push Taiwan into dialogue (or submission). Right now Beijing pulls the pro-unifying parties in Taiwan (Kuomintang & People First Party) closer, isolates the government and the independence movement. [International Herald Tributes] http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/04/25/news/china.php . Isolates and attacks. It is an often used Communist tactic.

This 'One China' issue is never really about national pride. It is a fight for power for a handful of politicians (Hu Jintao vs. Chan Shui-bian?). Beijing-Tokyo relation is also in this nature. The military crime committed by Japan during WWII is a powerful (moral) negotiating chip for Beijing (of course, the most powerful chip is China’s growing economy). The Japanese politicians paying tribute to dead soldier at the shrine publicly is a political statement. The target audiences are not only the Japanese people, but also the rest of the world (especially Asia): Japan is powerful and we can do what we want to.

(Why would I think Beijing does not really care about Japanese military crime? If you look carefully into how Beijing treat the Anti-Japan movement, or the East Sea border argument, we can see what is Beijing’s priority--its power. The Activists protest at Japanese Embassy at least once a year. But Beijing only voices its protest when it needs to. )

I can’t help but feeling that these ambitious politicians are all the same. Tony Blair, George W. Bush, Junichiro Koisumi, Hu Jintao, Chen Shui-bian…etc. It’s like Jack Bauer of the TV series 24. (well, I'm a huge couch potato) Basically he is no difference from those terrorists. It’s just happened that he is working for the good side. All these politicians are the same type of people, the only difference is they are from different places. So they play according to the rule of their place to get power. The US rule is the leader should be similar to the majority of the people (which means being stupid?). So they got George W. Bush. Politicians try to give the impression that they are what the people want. Tony Blair was the fresh face of Britain 8 years ago. Now he barely hangs on, taking advantage of his extremely lame opponents. Hu Jintao probably goes through some especially nasty stuff to climb to the top of Chinese Communist power ladder. At the end these politicians only care about one thing: power. Sometimes it appears that they really care about the people. But this is a mean, not the end. The so-called international relation is only a game of power between these ambitious individuals. While gamblers play with money, unfortunately the politicians play with the livelihood of everyone else in the world.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://democracy-hk.blogspot.com/2005/05/beijing-vs-taiwan-on-international.html' title='Beijing vs. Taiwan?
